The ASTELLAS INNOVATION CHALLENGE™ is a competition for 14-16 year old students. The competition aims to encourage and empower students to consider careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) by providing a practical challenge using STEM-related skills. Students across the UK were asked to work in teams of up to five to design a mobile app to encourage healthy living. Designs were judged based on creativity, methodology, impact and quality of the entry and eleven entries were shortlisted and invited to the final in London. Team Innovation of St. Paul’s Catholic College in South East England were the eventual winners and created the idea for this app – Memory Star™.
Memory Star™ is designed to help with mental wellbeing and encourage you to maintain a positive outlook on life. This app gives you a place to record your uplifting thoughts and memories, with the option to add photos that help capture a good day or an inspiring thought. You can fill the night sky with stars, each of which represents a different thought or memory.
